I just realized my website is down!! Apparently I failed to renew my domain, and now I am having trouble accessing the domain vendor to try to renew it. If I access it, I’m going to renew the domain for 10 years so I don’t have to deal with this again! It explains why recently I have received no emails from newly diagnosed appendix cancer patients. I thought it was just a lull….no, my domain email doesn’t work either. I’m so sorry to any of you who have tried to contact me. In the meantime, if you need to contact me, you can email me at clanglielesnik@gmail.com. I’m working on trying to get the site back up and the email working.
Also, I was recently in the hospital, not cancer related, but had a close call and again am glad to be alive. I am fine now, and am leaving tomorrow with my husband to go on a 2 week Hawaiian cruise to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Yet another landmark I get to celebrate…we’d been married 15 years when I was given a terminal diagnosis.
That's absolutely wonderful- thank you for sharing this big event!
Hi Carolyn,
I have been following your site since 2/2010. My husband, Kermit, was diagnosed with appendiceal cancer in 2/2007 by accident while having a neobladder formed from his small intestine due to a rare unrelated bladder cancer. We were told they got it all and it did not metastasize. Well, in Nov 2009, Kermit went into acute renal failure, but we did not know why until 2/2010 when his neobladder had to be removed due to the renal failure, and the pathology showed he had metastasized signet ring appendiceal cancer which wrapped around the ureters at the entrance to the neobladder. Luckily, we had Dr David Barlett of UPMC/Hilman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh PA who took care of Kermit. He told us that this cancer is what caused his organs to 'glue together', then it turns to almost a cement-like tissue that looks like scar tissue. It does not show up on PET scans, CAT scans, tumor marker blood tests, etc. My husband ended up doing 3 months of chemo, then had the debulking/heated chemo surgery (8 hours) and survived, then 3 more months of chemo. His prognosis in 2/2010 was 6 mo's to 1 yr without doing the surgery. Miraculouly, he is still going strong at age 60 and golfs every day. (he had to retire due to all this, and he still has bowel issues when eating most foods). His bladder cancer started when he was 54, appendix cancer at age 55, and the surgery/chemo at age 58. He just had a colonoscopy today and he has 3 ulcerated areas in his colon at the surgical anastomoses. We will have the path report on Thurs. Praying for a cancer free report, but it may be Chrohn's Disease. You have been an inspiration to me that you have made it this long. Thank you! PS: when we first went to Hilman Cancer Center, the only paperwork given to us were pages from your site! I already had them and had printed them from my own on-line research. Thought you would enjoy knowing how important your site actually is! Please feel free to post my story in the appendix cancer connection blog.
I was diagnosed with Leukemia when I was 4 months old. I am now 20 years old. I bring this up only because I am currently working on a documentary called, Discovering The Beating Path. We will be embarking on a journey across the West to stop at cancer camps, retreats, and support groups.
I've been reading your old blogs, and I would love to promote your story as we are on our journey. In return we were wondering if you might be able to help promote our journey, and the donation page:

Glad everything is ok. Congrats on 25 years!
Hi Carolyn,
My name is Kelsey Rathbun and I was wondering if you would be interested in having us write you a guest blog post for your blog site. I tried sending you an e-mail with Carolyn@appendix-cancer.com, but it bounced back. If you could e-mail me back at krathbun@asbestos.com, that would be great. I look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks,
Kelsey

Hi my classmate died of cancer. She was 40 when she died. We were in the the physical therapist assistant program in Gresham Oregon at Mt Hood Community College. She started having stomach pain and eventually went in for surgery. They removed her appendix and it was hard like plastic. She was diagnosed with cancer. Her CT scan was clear but a few months later she had pain again and another test showed a softball size tumor in her intestines. She decided on Hospice and she lost her battle April 23rd 2010. I created this scholarship in her name to help keep her caring legacy alive. I have been working hard to spread the word and raise as many funds as possible. She left a husband, son, and daughter behind, and many others who love her dearly.
I am happy to see that there are survivors and I hope that they continue to work to find a cure or treatments to continue to fight it and save more lives! God bless you all!
So glad to be able to access this site again, I have been trying for several weeks ….. you worried me! Congratulations on your anniversary, hope school is going well!

Hi Carolyn-
My husband recently had the HIPEC procedure done 2/27/11 and was officially dx with signet ring appendiceal carcinoma. I tried to email you at the email given on the blog, but received a delivery status failures notification. If you still need people to help with your research, we would be more than willing to help. Thanks-
Courtney
Bon voyage and congratulations! Glad you're okay. 25 years is a wonderful celebration!
Happy Anniversary Carolyn! Keep up the good work.

Happened to me as well in one of my blogs. The problem was I got too comfortable and didn't even check my adsense account for a year. Missed all their emails as well. Health writers, I feel, are not the most assiduous webmasters.
Bon voyage and congratulations! Glad you're okay. 25 years is a wonderful celebration!
